Zelma I. Courkamp
The world’s loss is Heaven’s gain as Zelma Courkamp departed from this life on October 11, 2015 surrounded by family and friends at Lamar Estates at the age of 91.
A celebration of life for longtime Lamar resident formerly of Wiley, Zelma I. Courkamp was held at 10:00AM on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Ian Blacker of the Lamar Christian Church officiating. Interment followed in Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation for Zelma was held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Zelma was born on June 14, 1924 at Woods County, Oklahoma to Charles Preston and Hattie Elmina (Melton) McCorkle.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Herbert Courkamp; her second husband Harvey Krey; her parents; infant daughter, Sandra; son and daughter-in-law, Larry (Konnie) Courkamp. Also siblings, twin sister, Velma Warn; Carol; Gilbert; John; Lee; Albert; Irvin and Margie McCorkle. Also twin infant siblings, Ora and Dora McCorkle.
Zelma is survived by her sons, Tim (Karen) Courkamp of Lamar and John (Deby) Courkamp of Wiley; daughter, Sharon (Gary) Shane of La Junta, CO; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Dolly. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and a host of friends also survive.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
