Zella Mae (Tyner) Shelton, 62, of Franklin died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Frank presiding. Burial will be at 11:00 AM, August 27, 2015 at Hillside Cemetery in Granada, CO.
There will be no visitation, as she chose cremation.
She was born on August 27, 1952, in Lamar, Colorado to James and Rita (Carter) Tyner. She grew up in Granada, CO and graduated from Granada High School with the class of 1970.
On October 9, 1971, she married James Shelton at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orleans, NE. The couple lived in Alma, NE until February of 1975 when they moved to Franklin, NE. She held numerous positions around town including 10 years at Marcellus Furniture Store, 5 years at the Bullpen Lounge and most recently the Franklin Country Club. She retired in January 2015.
Zella was a member of the Franklin Mrs. Jaycees, the Extension Club and served 8 years on the Franklin Public Library Board of Directors.
Survivors include her daughters, Monica Musil and her husband, Keith of Kearney, NE and Amanda Shelton of Franklin, NE; Five grandchildren, Kim Schulz of Kearney, NE; Kendra Musil of Altoona, IA; Riley Shelton of Kearney, NE; Samantha Fricke and her husband Austin of Kearney, NE; and Sean Musil of Tilden, NE. Three great-grandchildren, Jozlynn Schatz, and Pierce and Naomee Fricke all of Kearney, NE; Two sisters, Zelma Caswell of Spring Hill, LA and Zora Ortiz and husband José of Apache Junction, AZ; Brother, Zane Tyner of Granada, CO; Sister-in-law Lucille Matthies and husband Loyd of Oxford, NE; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim; daughter, Melissa and brother-in-law Darwin Caswell.
Memorials are suggested to the Franklin County Cancer Fund or to the family to help with expenses.
