William “Bill” Elam
A celebration of life for longtime Lamar resident, William “Bill” Elam will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Pastor Rory Gillespie of the Lamar Presbyterian Church and Pastor Brian Burton of the Cook Evangelical Covenant Church co-officiating. Interment will take place with full military honors under the auspices of the local V.F.W. and American Legion Posts in the Veteran’s Section at Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation for Bill will be held from 1:00PM until 7:00PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 with the family to greet from 5:00until 7:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Bill was born on October 18, 1934 at Salyersville, Kentucky to Benjamin and Lona (Howard) Elam and passed away on November 12, 2019 at the Spanish Peak’s Veteran’s Community Living Center in Walsenburg, Colorado at the age of 85.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charles Elam and Jack Elam and his sister, Mary Kay O’Dell.
Bill is survived by his wife, Deborah Elam of the family home in Lamar; children, Ben (Sue) Elam of Benson, AZ and Elizabeth (Brian) Burton of Cook, MN and his grandchildren, Lt. Zachary Bell, Mackenzie Bell, Sydney Bell and Ean Bell. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Elam of FL as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other family and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
Services are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
