Willard West served the United States Army from September 1, 1966 to August 24, 1968. He served as a Medical Corpsman in the Vietnam War and was awarded a Bronze Star and a Commendation Medal. His rank was Specialist (E-5). He refused to kill or carry a weapon, his religious beliefs forbade taking lives, and when not treating the wounded, the Seventh-day Adventist from Colorado would pray and read Scriptures to others. He was not proud of himself for what he had done, he was proud that God was able to use him to save so many lives. Our hero who will be deeply missed and is reunited with his wife Doris West in Heaven.he was also a live in director along with his wife at the Lamar Homeless Shelter for over 10 years. Both have good caring Hearts and faith in God. Willard heart and smile will forever imprinted in our Minds.
