Virginia Falconburg Brown
A graveside memorial sergvice for Canyon, Texas resident formerly of Lamar, Virginia Falconburg Brown was held at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Fairmount Cemetery.
Virginia was born on May 14, 1927 at Eads, Colorado to Ira Jefferson and Carrie Edna (Work) Falconburg and passed away on September 2, 2013 at Hillside Heights in Amarillo, TX at the age of 86.
In 1928 Virginia moved with her family to Wiley, CO where she grew up and spent her young adulthood. She graduated from Wiley High School in May 1946. She was a member of the United Brethren Church, played tennis, basketball and softball and was a cheerleader. Throughout high school she worked in the local drugstore as a soda jerk. She started working at Mountain Bell as an operator out of high school.
Virginia married Robert Lubbers in November 1947, a marriage blessed by three children; Curtis Robert Lubbers, Constance (Lubbers) Hopson and Cynthia (Lubbers) Castiglione. In September 1973 she married Raymond J. Brown. They lived in Lamar, CO, Mesa, AZ, and Pueblo, CO. She returned to Lamar upon Ray's death in 1993. In the spring of 2001, Virginia moved to Palo Duro Retirement Village in Canyon, TX to be near her daughter, Connie. During her time in Canyon, she worked as a part-time receptionist for the village.
Virginia was born into a large family, which nurtured her love of family. She lived her life for her brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She believed in hard work and fostered that ethic in those around her. She was an inspriation to all of those who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her first husband; Robert Lubbers, second husband; Raymond Brown, her parents, son; Curtis Lubbers, siblings; Helen Hollandsworth, Raymond, Ralph "Buck", Rody "Dick", Jack, Ira Jr., Harold "Doc" and Lewis Falconburg.
Virginia is survived by her daughters; Connie (Richard) Hopson of Canyon, TX and Cindie Castiglione of Erie, CO, daughter-in-law; Marge Lubbers of Wiley, six grandchildren; Curtis and Clay Lubbers of Wiley, Chris and Chad Hopson of Canyon, TX and Cassie and Cristie Castiglione of Erie, CO. She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren, her brother; Donald (Dorothy) Falconburg of Vilas, CO, sister-in-law; Lillie Falconburg of Wray, CO as well as numerous neices, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
