A Mass of Christian burial for longtime Granada resident, Ramon Peña will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Holly with Reverend Mariusz Wirkowski as celebrant. A rosary service will be held prior to the mass at 9:30AM with Josie French reciting. Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Granada, Colorado.
Visitation for Ramon will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 3:00PM until 7:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Ramon was born on October 1, 1935 at Los Ramones Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Julian and Guadalupe (Sosa) Peña and passed away on May 1, 2018 at his home in Granada with his family by his side at the age of 82.
He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Vargas, his parents and his sister, Francisca Peña.
Ramon is survived by his wife, Martina Peña of the family home in Granada, children, Regina I. (Alfredo) Peña- Hernandez of Garden City, KS, Victor (Sally) Vargas of Lamar, Amelia Vargas of Johnson City, KS and Lucille Medina of Lamar; grandchildren Ysabel “Chavie” (America) Vargas and Nonie (Johan) Aguirre all of Granada, Gerarda Vargas and Victoria (Oscar) Martinez all of Johnson City, KS. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren with one on the way, his siblings, Anselmo (Esperanza) Peña, Abel (Graciela) Peña, Antonio (Elvira) Peña, Santiago (Amelia) Peña and Ignacio (Graciela) Peña as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
