A mass of Christian burial for longtime Rocky Ford resident, Omar J. Barrera will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church with Reverend Mariusz Wirkowski as celebrant. A rosary service will be held prior to the mass at 9:30AM at the church with Maria Elena Gomez reciting. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Lamar.
Visitation for Omar will be held from 1:00PM until 5:00PM on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Omar was born on March 16, 1974 at Santana, Chihuahua, Mexico to Angel Manuel Sr. and Carmen Velia (Gutierrez) Barrera and passed away on November 29, 2019 at his home in Rocky Ford, CO at the age of 45.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Angel Barrera, Jr.; sister, Valentina Barrera; niece Heidi Barrera and his nephew Jorge “J.J.” Barrera.
Omar is survived by his siblings, Cecilia (Greg) Dowell of Lamar; Osvaldo (Maria) Barrera of Littleton, CO; Gabriel Barrera of Juarez, Mexico; Ana (Larry) Marez of Lamar; Olivia (Ivan) Flores-Barrera of Liberal, KS and Adrian Barrera of Denver, CO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Omar J. Barrera-Gutierrez Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home office.
Services are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
