Mildred I. “Millie” Hays
A Graveside Service for longtime Lamar resident, Mildred I. Hays was held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Fairmount Cemetery with Reverend Kathy Leathers of the Holly United Methodist Church officiating.
Visitation for Mrs. Hays was held on Monday, July 15, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Peacock Funeral Home.
Mildred, or Millie as she was known to her family and friends, was born on July 16, 1932 at Haven, KS to Emil and Lillian (Dierks) Blocker and passed away at Prowers Medical Center on July 11, 2013 at the age of 80.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters; Dorothy Blocker and Margaret “Marge” Rohlman.
She is survived by her husband Wayne of the family home in Lamar; her children Sheila (Lyle) Williams of Watonga, OK, Sharla (Jon) Montoya and Gregory Hays all of Lamar. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Adam, Anna, Andrea (Joey), Joshua, Tyann (Emerson) and Christopher (Mandi), great grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Kolby, Kayle, Emalee, Kohlston, Gabryela, Lucas, Colton and a new great granddaughter due to arrive in November as well as her brothers; Earl Blocker of Hutchinson, KS and Milton (Ruth) Blocker of Haven, KS. Numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends also survive.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Lamar Area Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice either direct or in care of the Peacock Funeral Home.
