A graveside memorial service for longtime Lamar resident, Mary Civis was held at 1:00 PM Thursday April 21, 2011 at the
Ft.
Lyon
National
Cemetery in
Ft. Lyon, Colorado.
Per Mary’s request, cremation has taken place and there was no public visitation.
Mrs. Civis was born on March 26, 1913 near Collbran, Colorado to Edwin and Rose (Kesterson) Gunderson and departed this life on April 16, 2011 at
Juniper
Village in Lamar at the age of 98.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband-Albert J. Civis on January 19, 1999 at Lamar and by one brother-Edwin Gunderson of
Collbran, CO.
Mrs. Civis is survived by two children-Jim (Betty) Civis of Lamar and Peggy (Steve) Walker of Golden; by five grandchildren-Calvin and Curtis Civis; and Zach, Josh, and Sarah Walker; by nine Great Grandchildren; and by three sisters-Ruth Latham of De Beque, CO; Evelyn Heuschkel of Grand Junction, CO; and Velma Marek also of Grand Junction, CO; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the

81052 or to a charity of one’s choice, either directly or through Peacock Funeral Home in Lamar.
