Leonard “L D” Austin
A Celebration of Life for longtime Lamar resident, Leonard “L D” Austin was held at 10:00AM on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Pastor Rick Beard of the Living Covenant Church officiating. Interment followed at Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation for L D was held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel. Family greeted friends from 4:00PM until 5:00PM.
L D was born on September 3, 1922 at Beaver County, Oklahoma to Leonard J. and Emma Ethel (Gordon) Austin and passed away on January 14, 2015 at his home in Lamar with his family by his side at the age of 92.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son; Ron Austin, grandson; Bobby Coplen, son-in-law; Bill McCaslin, brothers; Gene Austin, Dean Austin, Bill Austin and Jack Austin and brother-in-law; Gene Segers.
L D is survived by his wife; Louise Austin of the family home in Lamar, daughters; Dottie McCaslin of Lamar and Penny Vogel of Denver, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister; Delphine Segers of Lamar, sisters-in-law; Maxine (Jerry) Beard of Sulfer Springs, OK, Susie Austin of Grand Junction and Mary Lou Austin of Lamar and daughter-in-law; Kathie Payne-Austin of Lamar as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
