A Mass of Christian burial for Pueblo resident, formerly of Lamar, Joe A. Gonzales will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday April 12, 2018 at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar with Reverend Mariusz Wirkowski as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Lamar.
A rosary service for Joe will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday April 11, 2018 also at the Catholic Church led by Mary Alba.
Visitation for Joe will be held at the Peacock Family Chapel from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Wednesday April 11, 2018.
Joe A. Gonzales, affectionately known to many as Brother Lou, was born on March 19, 1936 in Lamar, Colorado to Francisco and Frances Alvarado-Gonzales and departed this life on Friday April 6, 2018 in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 82.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; by three children – Johnny, Jesse, and Annabelle Gonzales; and by his siblings – Tommie Estrada, Mike Gonzales, Jesse Gonzales, Manuel Gonzales; Frank Gonzales and Rudy Munez.
Joe is survived by four children – Linda Clark of Denver; JoAn Navarro of Denver; Mona (Eustaquio) Casillas of Pueblo and Louie Gonzales of Lamar; by 17 grandchildren; 47 Great Grandchildren and by one brother – John (Annabelle) Munez of Lamar as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends to include a special friend Rosio Badillo, CNA.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Joe Gonzales Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home office.
