Ida Mayhew, age 89, passed away on May 3, 2018 in Texas. She married John “Jack” Mayhew in September of 1947 and lived their life in Lamar and raised their children. Ida was blessed to travel and visit her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren over the years. She loved the beach and spent many years in south Texas. She loved to sew and make quilts. Her passion and quilts touched many people’s lives. She and her sister quilted once a week and loved sharing these quilts.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Mayhew; her sister Bertha Beaman and a brother Joe Sinka.
Ida is survived by her children – Becky (Vernon) Noble of Cibolo, Texas; and John (Shana) Mayhew of Lamar; her grandchildren – Tracy Gonzales of Corpus Christie, TX; Stacy Fischer of Scottsdale, Arizona; Dustin Pratt of Cibolo, Texas; Tona Arnold of Little River, Kansas; and Ben Mayhew of Wiley; by ten great grandchildren; and by her sisters – Mary Dieterle of Lamar and Tillie Lucas of Wauneta, Nebraska; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
Ida’s loving heart gave so much to all, she will be remembered forever and always loved.
A private family burial will be held in the Fairmount cemetery in Lamar Colorado on Thursday May 10, 2018 with Cody Petersen of the Lamar Christian Church officiating.
