Helen L. Specht
A celebration of life for longtime Lamar resident, Helen L. Specht will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Lamar Missionary Baptist Church with Ian Blacker officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation for Helen will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 1:00PM until 7:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Helen was born on December 5, 1922 to Clarence and Dottie Greenfield in Wichita, Kansas. Helen married the love of her life, Leo Specht on August 11, 1940; they spent the next 59 years cultivating a life of love, faith, hard work and a cherished family of 9 children. Her 95 years also brought blessing after blessing of grandchildren.
Helen Lucille (Greenfield) Specht, precious mother to 9 children, 30 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren went to be with her lord on December 18, 2017. She bore her affliction with Christian fortitude and patient enduring, looking forward with earnest desire to the time of her redemption, having a desire to, “depart and be with Christ, which is far better.”
Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leo Specht, two children, Connie Adame and Lyle Specht, sons-in-law, Lawrence Purvis, William Reazin and Jack Notestine and daughter-in-law, Patricia Specht.
Helen is survived by seven children, Madge Purvis of Weskan, KS; Leo Max (Kathy) Specht of Towner, CO; David Specht of Wichita, KS; Barbara Notestine of Lamar, CO; Ken (Shirley) Specht of Lamar, CO; Janice (Dean) McElroy of Gill, CO and Dale (Darla) Specht of Wiley, CO; son-in-law, Jim Adame of Houston, TX and daughter-in-law, Kathy Specht of Brandon, CO. She is also survived by her thirty grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gerri (Chester) Bupp of Wichita, KS and Madge Wright of Junction City, KS as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
