We spent 18 years going to Why, Arizona, checking out all the roads in a 200 mile radius was a wonderful adventure. Stopping in Albuquerque, New Mexico and other towns along the way. Great memories of going to church with the friends we have made during our winters in Arizona. Glenda got a lot of sleep on the way in all the years of taking long trips. Trips to Washington, Oregon, Montana and the East Coast. Even a cruise to the Bahamas from Florida’s Bush Gardens and Disney World. One of Glenda’s most memorable trips was with 2 other families to Disneyland in California. Dale had to do all the driving in a bad rainstorm on the way home. The desert looked like a lake, what a sight! A trip to Washington DC and parking all the way at the end of US Highway 50. I think it was at the Ronald Regan Building and checking out the National Mall. Glenda’s favorite part was finding a $20.00 bill at the entrance turn gate. It made her day. She was always very lucky. She was lucky enough to get Dale.
Glenda sure enjoyed the October family reunions in Cashion, Oklahoma at her daughter Katy’s place.
A trip to Mississippi and Louisiana for a month she sure loved Mardi Gras. Trip to Colonial National Park in Williamsburg, Virginia along with Norfolk, Virginia seeing the USS Cole with holes in the sides. Watching the large ships loading coal. 100 trainloads with 115 railroad cars going to Italy.
We have made so many friends in Utah, Washington, Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Canada and Colorado. Church was an important part of Glenda’s life. For the last several years she did the Prayers and Praises in the Why, Arizona fellowship on Sunday Mornings.Glenda was very creative decorating gourds, making cards with dried flowers from her beautiful gardens and more recently painting.
She was passionate about SDS and truly loved working with all the consumers.
Glenda fought a courageous 9 year battle of cancer. She had the best doctor’s in the US in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Phoenix. She had many family members for moral support. Brian, Theresa, Katy and Fred, their families, grandchildren, great-grandchildren supported her. Dale’s family Michael and MaryDale and their famililes.
Glenda will be greatly missed by all. But especially her family and husband of close to 25 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Katherine Irwin, sister, JoAnn Fletcher, brother, Richard Irwin, daughter, Christine Sales and granddaughter, Alicia Westrope.
Glenda is survived by her husband, Dale McWilson and their six children, Theresa (Dennis) Crelling, Brian (Laura) Sales, Katie (Bill) Nakvinda, Fred Sales, Mary Dale Horner and Michael (Julie) McWilson. One of Glenda’s greatest joys was the blessing of seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving family members and dear friends.
