Dorislee Jones
A Graveside Celebration of Life for longtime Lamar resident, Dorislee Jones will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery with Pastor Michael Stines of the Living Covenant Fellowship officiating.
A short memorial service for those who are unable to travel to Fort Lyon will be held at 9:00AM on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Living Covenant Fellowship with Pastor Michael Stines officiating.
Dorislee was born on December 27, 1936 at Las Animas, Colorado to Manuel and Hattie Marie (Zipse) Ferrell and passed away on January 5, 2019 at her home in Lamar with her family by her side at the age of 82.
As a young girl Dorislee attended Rixey School, and then graduated to Las Animas High School. She met Bobbie Lee Jones in her senior year of high school and they were married on August 8, 1954.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Bobbie Lee Jones and two sisters, Marcella Carter and Elora May Poyner, her mother and father-in-law, Gretchen Louise and Claude Jones, sisters-in-law, Faye Deathrage and Norma Ferrell, brothers-in-law, Leonard Jones, Luther “
Dutch” Deathrage, George Poyner, Bill Bundy and Howard Stoker.
Dorislee is survived by her children, Doris Leanne (Leonard) Bermudez, Claude Leroy “Butch” Jones and Teri Faye (Albert) Perkins all of Lamar, grandchildren, Lance Bermudez, Lenzi (Jerimiah) Appel all of Lamar, Teri Jo “TJ” (TJ Zeller) Perkins of Eaton, CO and Robert (Kayla) Perkins of Cherry Point, NC and great grandchildren, Jaydin, Gaberial and Kyndel Appel; Tyler, Alyshia and Jacob Perkins; Jon William “JW” Zeller; Molli Perkins and Zachary Lloyd Perkins due in March. She is also survived by her sisters, Mildred Bundy of Fairfax, OK, Linda Spillman of Lakewood, CO, her brother, Leroy (Donna) Ferrell of Pueblo West, CO and her sister-in-law, Peggy Stoker of Littleton, CO as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association and/or Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Peacock Funeral Home.
