Doris Hixson
A Celebration of Life for Doris Hixson, a Lamar resident, who resided more recently in Gillette, WY, was held at 4:00PM on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Lamar United Methodist Church.
Per the families’ request there will be no public visitation.
Doris Hixson was born on September 8, 1915 at Wichita, Kansas and passed away on August 27, 2013 at Gillette, Wyoming at the age of 97.
Doris married S.V. “Junior” Hixson on July 11, 1939. They moved from Wichita, KS to Lamar, CO in 1947. She assisted her husband with his business, Hixson’s Bar and Café; however, her very first and accomplished goal was to provide a loving home, often sharing wonderful meals with many friends and relatives. Doris was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church and was an active member of the United Methodist Women, often helping provide and serve meals.
Doris is best remembered as a gentle lady who always put others needs and wishes before her own.
She is preceded in death by her husband; S.V. “Junior” Hixson, daughter; Judy Nolder, parents; Fred Goodwin and Florence Wise, brother; George Goodwin and sister; Catherine Huenergardt.
Doris is survived by her children; Gail (Brian) Heath, George (Priscilla) Hixson all of Gillette, WY, son-in-law; Monty Nolder, six grandchildren; Alisha (Marvin) Gruenloh, Chad (Lisa) Nolder all of Lamar, Nathan Hixson of Gillette, WY, Mandy (Trevor) O’Rourke of St. Louis, MO, Shoni (Chase) Wilcox of Castle Rock, CO, Trevor Hixson of Laramie, WY, five great-grandchildren; Kameron Nolder, Jordan Nolder, Hayden Nolder, Bart Gruenloh and Ross Gruenloh all of Lamar.
