Dean was born on June 24, 1936 at Pretty Prairie, Kansas to Cleo and Mary (Vogt) Schwartz and passed away at his home on March 30, 2016 at the age of 79.
As a young man Dean worked at the Haymil, Ewing Feeds, working for the railroad and he farmed with his father-law Lee McCorkle. For many years he worked as an alignment mechanic for Cap’s Alignment. Dean loved his volunteer work with the Lamar Fired Department where he enjoyed participating in the fire drill competition as well as answering fire calls and serving as a leader with the organization. Later in Dean’s life he worked for Cooks Floor and Wall retiring at the age of 62.
Dean was a true handy-man. He could fix anything from vehicles for the entire family to remodel and repairs at the house. He enjoyed his motorcycle days with Patsy and their friends; his camping trips from his tenting days to the retirement days in the motor home up until his health would not allow him to do this.
He loved watching football, attending sporting events for family members and especially NASCAR. Attending NASCAR races was at the top of Dean’s list of entertainment along with his joy of listening to country music.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Janea Aguilera and Nathan Dickson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Patsy of the family home; his children; Monte (Elizabeth) Schwartz of Mesa, AZ, Mark Schwartz of Lamar, Mick (Carleta) Schwartz of Lamar, Miles (Sherri) Schwartz of Queen Creek, AZ; and Melony (Mark) Fleshman of Lamar. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Tori, Kimber, Brandon, Amy, Brian, Chelsi, Jill, Kati, Justin, Josh and Danica and 17 great grandchildren with two on the way, (one of which to be named after grandpa Dean) as well as his brother Leroy (Jean) Schwartz and sister Thelma (Bill) Cole all of Lamar as well as many other cousins and other relatives.
