 A graveside memorial service for longtime Lamar resident Cora Schwanz will be held on Wednesday, August 07, 2024 at 1:00PM at the Fairmount Cemetery with Pastor Thomas Barton of the Grace Lutheran Church officiating.

 Visitation for Cora will be held prior to the graveside service at Peacock Family Chapel on Wednesday, August 07, 2024 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM.

 Cora was born on April 17, 1922 at West Newton, Pennsylvania to John and Della (Errett) Derr and passed away on July 27, 2024 at the Prairie View Village in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 102.

 She is preceded in death by her Husband Otto Schwanz, her parents and her son Paul Schwanz, four brothers, four sisters and her son-in-law Alan Carter. 

 Cora is survived by her children Linda Carter of Abilene, KS, Gary Schwanz of Cheyenne Wells, CO, Cheryl (Gregg) Schmitt of Albuquerque, NM and Caroyl (Patrick Kelley) Doyle of Madera, CA, eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Betty Hawkins of Holly, CO, sister-in-law Helen Derr as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and a host of friends.

 In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and/or the Sangre de Cristo Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
