Charlotte Kay Mascarenas, 79 beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many was born October 14, 1944 in Olatha, Kansas to Joseph J. and Ella M (Sauer) Bauer and made her final journey home where she was greeted by her waiting family on October 10, 2024 in Ordway, CO. She was one of seven children born to Joseph J. and Ella M. Bauer.

Charlotte attended school in Sugar City, CO where she grew up on a small farm south of town. She attended a cosmetology school in Denver, CO and received her license. She was married to Buddy Pacino and then later married George Mascarenas in July of 1971 in Trinidad, CO.

Her parents preceded her in death as did her loving and faithful husband George Mascarenas (8-27-22) and her loving children Daryl Pacino (3-15-22) Sheryl (Pacino) Glover (6-5-99) and Larry D. Mascarenas (10-16-1998). She is survived by grandchildren Sam Pacino of Wellington, Kansas; Phillip (Kara Core) Pacino of Wichita, Kansas; Lindsey (Glover) Patterson and husband Tim of Salt Lake City, Utah and Allie McCurley of Anthony, KS. Eight great grandchildren Levi, Stetson, Caiden, Sarayah, Madison, Emma Ann, from Salt Lake City and Kaliyah and Kayden from Wichita, KS. Six sisters, Betty Rusher – Amarillo, Tx.; Carrol and Kenny Vetter of Selah, Wa; Mary Young – Sugar City, Co; Josephine Chacon – Trinidad, Co; Margaret Gardner – Ordway, Co.; Deborah Sandoval – Pueblo, Co.; her dear friend Judy Ann Albo, numerous nephews and nieces; several brother and sister in laws, and her many longtime friends.

Her passion was as a homemaker and she was often called upon to cook her specialty - enchiladas and green chili for many family gatherings. She won the Lamar chili cook off contest; said she was good.

She adored her grandchildren and was very proud of them. They became a central part of her conversations over the years. BINGO was her game and reliving stories that only she remembered while playing Bauer Rummy or cards made up another side of her. Her laughter and joking will be missed by all who loved her.

Charlotte was an avid collector of angels and felt their presence surrounding her. Over the past months her wish has been to join her heavenly family and with the angels lifting her up she has now completed that journey. Keep her close, up there, and hold her tight - she really missed each of you and now she is home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association and or the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
