A graveside memorial service for Carlos David Zamora will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Riverside Cemetery in Lamar, Colorado with Pastor Paul Floyd of the High Plains Fellowship Church officiating and Military Honors under the auspices of the Local V.F.W. and the American Legion Posts.

Carlos David Zamora, age 79, of Joplin (formerly of Ottawa), passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

Carlos was born on July 3, 1945 in Lamar, Colorado, to the late Dolores Barela. He grew up in Lamar, CO and graduated from Lamar High School in 1963. He then went on to attend Lamar Junior College where he obtained his certificate in carpentry. After college, he entered the United States Army, where he served his country faithfully in the Vietnam War. Once returning to the states, he worked in construction for several years before retiring in 1989. Carlos and Patricia then moved to Hasty, CO and opened a convenience store, Moni’s Marina and Mini Mart and Z-Creek Liquors. They later moved to Ottawa, KS in 2001.

Carlos married Patricia “Pat” Funk on September 29, 1979 in Miami, OK. Together they were blessed with 45 years of marriage before his passing. He enjoyed playing his guitar, reading, and donating blood to the American Red Cross. Carlos was an avid runner for many years. He was a member of the VFW in Lamar, CO, DAV Chapter Topeka #3, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America LU 510 and 1396. He loved most of all spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, Carlos was preceded in death by his five siblings, Alice Guerrero, Andrew “Andy” Zamora, David Zamora, Ernesto “Ernie” Zamora, and Esias “Jr” Zamora.

Carlos is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Zamora; three children, April Dewolfe and husband, David, Monica Zamora-Lawrence and husband, Aaron, and Farren Knapp; four siblings, Rose Zamora and husband, Steve, Joe Zamora, Jim Zamora and wife, Marina, and John Zamora; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carlos Zamora Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home to assist the family with final expenses.
