Elizabeth J. “Betty” Strain
1917 – 2015
A private family graveside service for longtime Lamar resident, Elizabeth J. Stain, affectionately known to many as Betty, was held on Monday June 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar. Ray Matteson of the Lamar Christian Church officiated the service.
Betty was born on March 13, 1917 in Lamar, Colorado to Harry McKibbon and Myrtle McKenney-McKibbon and departed this life on Thursday June 18, 2015 at her home in Lamar at the age of 98.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband – Clyde D. Strain; by one sister – Helen England; and by one brother – Bob McKibbon.
Betty is survived by two sons – Homer (Joye) Strain of Pueblo, Colorado; and Wesley E. (Georgetta) Strain of Las Cruses, New Mexico; by five grandchildren – Edward (Micha) Strain of Brighton, CO; and Scott Strain of Grand Junction, CO; Dean Strain of Colorado Springs, CO; Neal (Anna) Strain of Minnesota and Colleen (Jay) Warfield of California; as well as by four great grandchildren, Sarah, Kyle, Garret and Nora; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
