Betty Jean (Horton-Cambron) Wells-McCorkle

A celebration of life memorial service for longtime Pueblo resident, Betty Jean Wells-McCorkle will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Lamar Christian Church with Ian Blacker officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Wiley Cemetery.

Per Betty’s request cremation will take place and there will be no visitation.

Betty was born on January 7, 1943 in Garden City, Kansas to Robert Louis “Bud” Horton and Lena Cora Thomas Horton and passed away on May 3, 2018 at her home in Pueblo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Jason Wayne Cambron and her sisters, Ruby Louise Davis and Mary Belle Erker.

Betty is survived by her children, Duone Cambron of Pueblo, CO and Warren Smith of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Danette Sims, Heath Sims, Cambron Sims, Brea Gaedtke, Brynn Thornburgh, Brandis Kelly and Brayla Williams. She is also survived by her siblings, Roberta (Kay) Allen, Bill (Susan) Horton and Louis Horton as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.

Betty was retired from Big R in Lamar and Trinidad where she worked for 28 years. She worked as a Store Manager, Clothing Manager and clothing buyer.

Betty loved spending time with all her family, attending most all family reunions in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. She enjoyed keeping track of all her nieces and nephews and all their families. She especially liked Sunday dinners with her daughter and grandchildren. Dancing was also a favorite pastime for Betty as she loved a good two-step, swing or jitterbug.

Later on in life she and her husband, Leroy’s favorite pastime was travelling from Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona hitting all the Casinos in the area. They loved their Rockies and Bronco’s watching whenever they were playing.

Betty will be missed by all her family and friends for her fun demeanor.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sangre De Cristo Hospice in Pueblo, Colorado either direct or in care of the funeral home office.

Services are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
