Graveside services for longtime Lamar resident, Bette J. Hershey will be held at 11:00 AM Friday June 9, 2017 at the Veteran's Section of Fairmount Cemetery with Dale Fuhrmeister of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating.
Per Bette’s request cremation will take place and there will be no visitation.
Bette was born on January 8, 1927 at Manter, Kansas to Ralph Emerson and Bessie Gertrude (Martin) Selby and passed away on May 25, 2017 at Prowers Medical Center at the age of 90.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hershey, her parents and her siblings.
Bette is survived by her children, Doug Appel of Lamar, Kerry Appel of La Junta, CO, Sheryl (Omar) Shaban of Saudi Arabia, Greg (Jamie) Appel of Virginia, Jeff (Elizabeth) Appel of Pueblo, CO and Lee Ashton Selby of Lamar as well as fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
