A graveside celebration of life for longtime Lamar resident, Barbara Jean Smith was held at 11:00AM on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Wiley Cemetery in Wiley, Colorado with Deacon Henry Wertin officiating.
Visitation was held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday December 13, 2012 at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Barbara was born on April 25, 1937 at Lamar, Colorado to Willie Clarence Dowen and George and Thelma Lucille (Ralston) Pittman and passed away on December 8, 2012 at Juniper Village at Lamar at the age of 75.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Art Smith, her parents, daughter-in-law; Karen Smith, brother; Grover “Sonny” Dowen, sister; Sharon MacDonald and Eudora Dowen, and a brother-in-law; W.C. Wilson.
She is survived by her children; Gary Smith, Randy (Connie) Smith of Syracuse, KS, Terry (Toni) Smith of Coolidge, KS, Larry (Jennifer) Smith of La Junta, Rick (La Jeana) Smith of Syracuse, KS, and Thelma (Paul) Homedew of Lamar, 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers; George H. (Vicky) Pittman, Jr. of Lakin, KS, David Pittman of Lamar, Byron (Debbie) Pittman of Garden City, KS, sister; Diane Wilson of Colorado Springs, a sister-in-law Deleta Dowen of Lamar as well as numerous other family and a host of friends.
