Audrey M. Flynn
A private family memorial service for longtime Lamar resident, Audrey M. Flynn, took place at the Lamar Christian Church with Ian Blacker officiating. Per Mrs. Flynn’s request, she was cremated.
Mrs. Flynn was born on April 28, 1940 in Charleston, West Virginia to Todd Eugene and Helen Ray (Bare) Broyles and departed this life on Friday October 4, 2013 at The Legacy in Lamar at the age of 73.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, two infant babies, and her step-father; Red Summers.
Audrey Flynn is survived by her children; Dean (Peggy) Rogers of Tuscon, AZ and Sheryl (Mark) Carrigan of Lamar, CO four grandchildren; Brittany Carrigan, Matthew (Brittany Lace) Carrigan, Robin (Shane) Kuntz and Aaron (Amanda) Sipos, three great-grandchildren; Logan and Colton Kuntz and Carsten Carrigan. She is also survived by her siblings; John (Susan) Broyels of Wesley Chapel, FL, Ron (Thasaneeya) Broyles of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Gary Broyles of Charleston, WV as well as numerous nieces, nephews; Heather (martin) Broyles Walden, Amanda Broyles, Todd (Caroline) Broyles (Tyler and Camreon) Eugene Broyles her Aunts Ina Turley and Ethel Broyles as well as numerous cousins, other family and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
Audrey and her siblings were raised in the beautiful West Virginia mountains. She remained in Charleston until she met and married Burnace Rogers in 1958. He started his Air Force career in Marietta, GA and she joined him there. Their son Dean Ray arrived in 1960 in Killeen, TX and their daughter Sheryl Lynn was born in 1962 in Amarillo, TX.
As an Air Force spouse, she traveled extensively with her family to Spangdalem, Germany; Wichita, KS; back to Chharlestoin, WV; Alamogordo, NM; Alexandria, LA; Zaragoza, Spain; and Tucson, AZ. Her final move was to Lamar, CO to be close to the grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren deeply.
Audrey loved God and was ready to go home. She enjoyed the Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Disneyworld, and trips to Las Vegas to see the shows. She collected nativities, nutcrackers and dolls. She really enjoyed helping others when they were going through a rough time in their lives. She worked at the base commissaries, IBM, and as a nursey school teacher.
