Alonzo Hernandez
A mass of Christian burial for longtime Lamar resident, Alonzo Hernandez was held at 10:00AM on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Reverend Mariusz Wirkowski as celebrant. A rosary service was held prior to the mass at 9:30 at the church with Maria Gomez reciting. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation for Alonzo was held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Alonzo was born on November 9, 1941 at Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico to Ramon and Amelia (Franco) Hernandez and passed away on October 29, 2016 at his home in Lamar with his family by his side at the age of 74.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Abel Hernandez.
Alonzo is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hernandez of the family home in Lamar; children, Richard Chavez of Manzanola, CO; Alonso (Amber) Hernandez, Jr. of Pueblo West, CO; Juan Hernandez of Lamar and Amelia (Jacob) Hernandez of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren with one on the way and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Alva Lydia Cano of Mexico; nephews, Francisco Hernandez, Abel Hernandez, Jr., Jesus Hernandez and Salvador Hernandez and his niece, Guadalupe Gomez as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alonzo Hernandez Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home office.
