A.J. “Joker” Choat
A celebration of life for long time Lamar resident, A.J. Choat will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Redeeming Love Church with Pastor Mark Viar officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairmount Cemetery with Full Military Honors under the auspices of the local VFW.
Visitation for A.J. will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Peacock Family Chapel.
A.J. was born on May 21, 1926 at Hartman, Colorado to Joseph E. and Anna (Bayse) Choat and passed away on June 21, 2018 at his home in Lamar with his family by his side at the age of 92.
He is preceded in death by his second wife, Norma Jean Choat, his parents, siblings, Wilbur Choat, Joe Choat, Joan Thompson and Jean Osborn and his grandson, Davey Musick.
A.J. is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Musick-Choat of the family home in Lamar, children, Gary Choat of Pueblo, CO, Dianne Choat of Evans, CO, Tammi Choat, Sherri (Bill) Becker and Rick (Heidi) Choat all of Lamar, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren with two on the way, step-son, Dana (Natalie) Musick of Bristol, CO and his caregiver, Jo Estep. Numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
Services are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
