Bernard W. Wilger
A Funeral Mass for longtime Lamar resident, Bernard W. Wilger was held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2009 at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar with Reverend Charlie Sena as celebrant. An Evening Rosary was held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 7:00PM at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Deacon Henry Wertin reciting.
Rite of Committal followed the Mass in the Veteran’s Section at the Fairmount Cemetery under the Auspices of the Lamar VFW, St. George Creagh Jr., Post #3621 and the American Legion Post #71.
Bernard was born August 1, 1923 at Lamar to Henry and Olive Martha (Miller) Wilger and passed away on July 25, 2009 at his home with his family by his side at age 85.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Arline Wilger, his parents, his brother Jirld Wilger,
son-in-law; Bob Spurlock and his brother-in-law; Richard Koenig.
Bernard is survived by his children; Betty (Jim) Civis of Lamar, Mary Spurlock of Belene, New Mexico, Jim Wilger of Lamar, Donna (Brian) Hoopes of Snowflake, Arizona, John (Lois) Wilger of Loveland, Colorado and Bill (Connie) Wilger of St. Francis, Kansas, grandchildren; Calvin and Leah Civis, Curt and Rosalba Civis, Casey and Shea Wilger, Kyle, Sarah and Cody Hoopes, Allan and Becky Wilger and Jamie Wilger, and Brennon Wilger. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren; Emily and Heather Civis, Oscar and Frida Civis and Dylan and Aidan Wilger, his sister; Lucile Koenig and sister-in-law; Pauline Wilger, as well as numerous other family and a host of friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fairmount Cemetery Veteran’s Fund in care of the funeral home office.
