Walter R. “Bud” Sheeley
A Funeral Mass for longtime Lamar Resident, Walter R. “Bud” Sheeley was held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 30, 2010 at the St. Francis De Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Reverend Charlie Sena officiating. A Rosary was held prior to the Mass at 9:30 AM with Deacon Henry Wertin reciting. The Rite of Committal and full Military Honors under the auspices of the Lamar VFW, St. George Creaghe, Jr. Post #3621 and the American Legion Post #71 followed the Mass at Fairmount Cemetery in the Veteran’s Section.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 1:00PM until 7:00 PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Walter was born on March 8, 1939 at Alamosa , Colorado to Glen Earl and Jessie Louise (Tomberlin) Sheeley and passed away on July 26, 2010 at the Southeast Colorado Hospital , Alzheimer’s Care Center in Springfield , Colorado with his wife by his side at the age of 71.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, siblings; John Sheeley, Marvin Sheeley, Glenna Hardinger, Janet Simpson, and infant Billy Glen Sheeley.
He is survived by his wife; Marie Sheeley of the family home in Lamar, children; Valerie (Mike) Sinibaldi of Lake Mary, Florida and Ann (Tom) Hooper of Norman, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Jeffrey Linn, Jacquelyn, Joshua and Madeline Hooper. He is also survived by his brother-in-law; Gene Hardinger of Grand Junction , CO , sister-in-law; Joan Sheeley of Loveland , CO as well as other family and many friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or to the S.E. Colorado Hospital District/Alzheimer’s Unit either direct or in care of the Funeral Home office.
