Dorothy Perkins A celebration of life for lifelong Lamar resident, Dorothy Perkins was held 10:00 AM Monday, April 28, 2008 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Reverend Gary Goettel and Gene Segers officiating. Interment followed at the Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Dorothy Perkins was born on November 19, 1917 in the family home at the Pleasant Heights Community south of Lamar to John Edmund and Eldora Jan (Rutter) Warn. Dorothy passed away in the early morning hours of April 22, 2008 at Juniper Village in Lamar, Colorado at the age of 90.
Dorothy's parents moved to the Pleasants Heights Community from Kansas where they homesteaded in 1917 with their twin sons Ralph and John. Six more children were born to this union.
In 1932, Dorothy and the Warn family moved to Lamar where she has made her home.
Dorothy grew up south of Lamar and attended the Pleasant Heights School as well as the Lamar schools.
Dorothy worked at Marx Master Bakery where she met Rook Perkins. Dorothy and Rook were united in marriage on February 27, 1985. Rook and Dorothy worked side by side at the bakery for many years, retiring in 1985. You hardly ever saw Rook and Dorothy when they were apart. Following retirement, they both continued working together as custodians for the Valley National Bank as well as the Lamar United Methodist Church for many years.
Dorothy's husband and best friend passed away on May 27, 2005 following 50 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by her parents, twin brothers as well as her other siblings; Leroy, Ruben and Jesse warn and sister, Emma Warn.
 She is survived by her brother Clyde Warn of Lamar as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
