Max A. Smith
A memorial service for longtime Lamar resident, Max Allen Smith was held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Peacock Family Chapel with Ray Matteson of the Lamar Christian Church officiating. Interment followed at Fairmount Cemetery under the auspices of the Lamar Elk’s Lodge # 1319.
Max was born on August 7, 1930 at Ellsworth, Kansas to George and Minnie Marie (Eads) Smith and passed away on Au
gust 5, 2010 at his home in Lamar at the age of 79.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, in 2001; Delores Jean (Maendele) Smith, his parents, daughter; Lisa Ann in 1956 and son; Dirk Allen in 2006.
Max is survived by son; Todd Allen Smith, of Lamar; daughter; Tara Sue (Clinton) Hosick of Golden, Colorado, two grandsons; Matthew Allen Hosick of Lincoln, Nebraska and Tristin Osborn of Lamar, granddaughters; Emilie Stickley of Grand Junction, Hanna Jo Hosick of Golden, Colorado, and Danika Noel (Thomas) Harlson of Lamar, and step-sister, Flora Mae (William) Wilson of Westminster. He is also survived by his sister-in-law; Pat Maendele of Cozad , Nebraska , brothers-in-law; David Paul ( Nancy ) Maendele of Kerrville, TX , and Roger Malmstrom of Hutchinson , Kansas as well as numerous other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ted Applegate Fund-Elks Lodge # 1319 either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
