| For Simona Fernandez...We were sad to hear of my Great Aunt Simona's recent passing. I was related to Simona through my mother, Esther Martinez-Saldana, who was also one of Anastasia Martinez's daughters. I remember my family and I visiting her at her home in Colorado during a family reunion. We enjoyed our visit with her very much. In fact, during the holiday season, my cousins and I got together and shared some of our memories of this extraordinary woman. One of the things that most impressed us about our dear Aunt was the fact that she was independent and strong enough to live on her own in the wilds of rural Holly, Colorado all the way into her nineties. Resilient and kind-hearted,"Tia Simona" will be missed by the many members of her family, and will live on in our hearts and in the stories we share about her...from the Saldana family, Elk Grove, California. |
