Dana Deisher

A service of celebration for Dana R. Deisher was held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Lamar United Methodist Church. Interment with full Military Honors under the auspices of the Lamar VFW, St. George Creaghe, Jr. Post #3621 was followed at Fairmount Cemetery. Per Dana’s request their was no public visitation.

Mr. Deisher, age 58, of Las Vegas, Nevada and former Lamar and Liberal, Kansas resident was born September 5, 1948 to Wilbur J. and Betty L. (Rose) Deisher and passed away at his home in Las Vegas with his family by his side on July 14, 2007 following his courageous battle with cancer.

Dana is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Betty Deisher.

He is survived by his brother W. James (Lynn) Deisher of Falmouth, Massachusettes, close friend, Linda K. Deisher of Las Vegas, NV, his nephew Bryon James Deisher and niece, Kimberly Lynn Deisher both of Portland, Oregon as well and aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends.
Dana was born a concoctor, a deviser and contriver, who put those traits to use as a field engineering supervisor for Colorado Interstate Gas Company.

As a youth, he favored the science, and when toys were scarce, he would invent or build things he, his brother, and his friends enjoyed time and again.

With High School completed in Lamar in 1966, he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering Science from Colorado State University in 1970.

He served as a crew chief door gunner on a “Huey” helicopter in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972, and back home again as a National Guardsman through 1973.

He went to work with his brother Jim, as a carpenter for a year before signing onto his career with Colorado Interstate Gas Company, for 28 years. While located out of Amarillo Texas, Rawlins Wyoming, and Liberal Kansas, he traveled back to Lamar often to care for his father Wilbur and his mother Betty.

Dana married Linda of Rawlins in 1983-1989, and they were still good friends.

Cancer visited Dana for the first time in 1990 and he remained free of it until 2006. With early retirement, he moved to Las Vegas in 2002 to build his “dream” home and to do some free lance work in the area.

With a medical exam for an ear infection, the doctors discovered cancer had returned. For the last year Dana had struggled through a host of procedures, with at least four specialists from the medical profession in Las Vegas.

Dana will be missed by all those who were blessed to know him, and his spirit will always live on in our hearts.

We love you Dana, God bless you and keep you.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

 Online Condolences

Very sorry to hear of Dana's premature passing while attending recent high school reunion. Dana was a good guy. Kent Christensen
I have very fond memories of Dana and his brother Jim. My heart aches for Dana and his struggle with cancer as well as for Jim losing his only brother. One of the things I also remember about the Deisher Boys, as they were so often called in our day, was their wonderfully kind mother. I know that Dana will be missed by all who knew him and that he will never be forgotten. Dianna (Randle) McGuire, Lamar Schools friend and classmate of Dana

Dear Jim & Family, We were so sorry to hear about Dana. We were on vacation and did not get home until the 24th. We would have been at the funeral if we had been here. We are so sorry for you loss. In Deepest Sympathy, Sue (Hill)& Veryl Peery
To Jim and Dana's extended family, So sorry to hear of Dana's passing. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to all of you. Jo England Jones, a high school classmate
Jimmy, Please know that we share your loss and that you are in our hearts today. Our fondest childhood memories include both Dana and you, playing at your house so many times, and all the antics you two got into and managed to involve us in - even the times when we just stopped by for a short visit on the way to Grandma's house in LaJunta! We'll never forget your visits with us in Texas, either - how we'd love it when your family would come!! Uncle Wilbur & Aunt Betty and the two of you have left marked impressions on us both, and you are all extra special characters in the stories of our lives -- you guys have always meant the world to us. We're so glad we got to share some time with you guys at the reunion a few years ago, and thankful, too, that Bob and Dana got to have a nice long visit again last year in Nevada. Dana was truly one of a kind and just knowing he is gone from this earth makes our world a little less brighter. We will be there with you on Friday. We love you, Your Texas cousins - Bobby & Mary
Our condolences to the family of Dana Deisher, From Debbie and Denice Higbee and families.
Jim, I am so sorry to hear of Dana's passing. Although we will all miss him, it is comforting to know that he is now pain-free with our Lord. I have so many fond memories of him during our childhood...the parties at our farm, bailing hay, pig roast, and playing spoons...and the stories our parents enjoyed telling - when he fell off my horse, I promise I didn't do it! I hope the memories of all the fun times brings comfort to you at this sad time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Love, Denice (Higbee) Buchanan

Condolences on the loss of your loved one. I first met Dana at Colorado Boys State in 1965. Had the opportunity to work with him on numerous occasions during his employment with Colorado Interstate Gas. He was a good and fair man both in life and in business. He will be missed. Chuck McCall
